Happy Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! It is a special time for us to celebrate the rich culture, history, and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. It is a time to reflect on our shared heritage and honor the generations who have shaped our community.
At this special time, we are thrilled to share exciting news with you all. On May 6th, 2023, the Center for Taiwan Studies at UCSD held its grand opening ceremony. This milestone event marks a significant step towards promoting and preserving Taiwanese and Taiwanese Americans’ culture, history, and identity.
The Center aims to expand the cultural understanding of Taiwanese and Taiwanese Americans through interdisciplinary research, teaching, and outreach. The center provides a sustainable platform to grow collaboration and exchange between the U.S. and Taiwan, increase visibility in university Taiwan-centered projects, encourage student engagement across disciplines in Taiwan studies, and offer grant support for faculty and graduate student research. The center also connects local and international communities with diverse events and programming to raise awareness of important social issues impacting Taiwan.
TA Archives proudly supports and partners with the Center for Taiwan Studies at UCSD to advance Taiwanese American research and preserve valuable data collections. We strive to enrich the understanding of Taiwanese American history, culture, and contributions.
